Introduction

The main objective of the Ayurvedic Department of the Southern Province is to generate both physically and mentally fit people through the treatments of indigenous medical system which inherited for a proud history of more than Two Thousand Five Hundred years.

Presently, the Department of Ayurveda of the Southern Province has implemented many timely development processes with the objective of preventing of deceases, hospitality services and expansion of the promotion of Ayurveda medicine and thereby able to provide an effective services and achieved a higher progress.

10 Ayurvedic hospitals and 26 Central Dispensaries are providing treatments to the people under the Department of Ayurveda of the Southern Province. Among these, several special services have been implemented by the Ayurveda hospitals in Galle, Aparekka and Beliatta which were improved by the presidential task force.
